Sydney Crosby was selected first overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and quickly showed why many called him a generational talent. As a rookie, Crosby scored 39 goals and had 63 assists for a total of 102 points in his 81 games played. He was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team and finished second in voting for the Calder Trophy to fellow superstar Alexander Ovechkin.
