Very few young defensemen early in their careers have as much hardware in their trophy case as Colorado Avalanche’s Cale Makar. Once he won the Hobey Baker Award for the best collegiate hockey player in 2019 Makar cut his teeth in the playoffs only to return for his first full year and win the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s best rookie.
